Personalised jigsaw puzzles are a great activity for family time together and an opportunity to build your child's self-esteem. They provide time to discuss their unique features and positive qualities or a story that gets told as the photo gradually takes shape and relive memories time and time again, evoking the same wave of positive emotions!
What you need:
a photograph of your child
paper and crayons
scissors
What to do:
either find a photograph of your child or encourage them to draw a picture of themselves
stick this photo or picture onto cardboard- this will make it stronger
cut this into large pieces- with straight edges for younger children
you now have a jigsaw- try and piece it back together again
use an old envelope to store this jigsaw
Remember ...
pictures from magazines can also make great jigsaws
take care with piece sizes as small parts can cause choking hazards for babies and small children
Also ...
there are a number of companies who sell personalised photo jigsaws of family snapshots, special memories or favourite things
